There is no monkey saying he is fine, thank you, just a little tired. There is no monkey performing okayness for an audience of other monkeys who are also performing okayness.

We learned to smooth ourselves down so as not to inconvenience the room. The chimp does not smooth himself down. The chimp is the room.

The troop knows where everyone stands. This turns out to be the entire point of having a troop.
