Monkey Doesn't Plan

The day arrives and the monkey arrives with it.

The day arrives. The monkey arrives with it. There is no agenda. There is no quarterly review of the monkey's branches. There is no five-year vision for the monkey's tree.

The monkey responds to weather, to fruit, to the soft sound of a leopard somewhere it should not be.

We wrote the future down and then resented it for being a draft. The orangutan has not written anything down. The orangutan is in the present, which is the only place anything ever happens.

Tomorrow he will be somewhere. He will arrive there too.
